Rhode Island Animal Medical Center Four Paws Pet Resorts Rhode Island Animal Medical Center and Four Paws Pet Resort is a full service, comfortable, modern, state-of-the-art hospital and boarding kennel serving canines, felines, rabbits, birds, reptiles, and other small mammals.

A family run and owned business, Director, Charles Callanan speaks about its history. "My grandfather, P.J. Callanan, a stone mason and bare-knuckle boxer, immigrated to the United States from Ireland and began raising Kerry Blue Terriers and Irish wolfhounds. When friends and relatives went back to Ireland to visit, P. J. would board their dogs.

In 1926, he partnered with Dr. Bourke, DVM, to form Brighton Animal Hospital, and thus began one of the most successful animal care facilities in the Boston area."

Callanan continues, "As the years went by sons Kevin (my father), Tommy, and Robert Callanan took over the business.

Now, the third generation of Callanans, Chris, Chad, Jon, Joseph, Neil, and Monica are proudly carrying on the tradition for quality pet care at Rhode Island Animal Medical Center and Four Paws Pet Resort."

Rhode Island Animal Medical Center offers all types of medical treatment, from maintenance and wellness visits to emergencies.

Your pets will be treated with kindness and professionalism with state-of the-art equipment, including the newest digital x-ray system. Puppies, kittens, and geriatric animals receive the best care possible from the knowledgeable and empathetic staff in the clean and comfortable environment of the medical center.

Four Paws Pet Resort provides overnight boarding for cats and dogs ("fully climate controlled, when its hot outside, it's cool in here!") and Doggy Day Care.

They will take special care of your geriatric or special-needs pet, so there's no reason to worry while you're away because the medical staff is always available. The kennels are clean and spacious and there's plenty of room for your pet to run-around. As for Doggy Day Care, Callanan comments, "You bring them in wound-up, and we'll send them home tired!" To take advantage of this home away from home all your pet needs is to be up-to-date with vaccinations.

At the facility you will find an award winning grooming facility for dogs, cats, and even rabbits. The expert staff can handle the most difficult pets and can perform under the direction of a doctor, anesthesia grooming for those animals who would otherwise be unable to groomed properly or safely. On December 14th and 15th Rhode Island Animal Medical Center and Four Paws Pet Resort will be offering 25% off all grooming services to prepare for "Pet Photos with Santa" on December 15th.

For your convenience, Rhode Island Animal Medical Center and Four Paws Pet Resort has a retail area that carries basic pet and vet approved items including, Hills Science Diet, pet beds, treats, leashes, and even Holiday gifts for your pets.

The center is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 7 pm, Friday 8 to 6 pm, Saturday 8 am to 5 pm, and is closed to the public on Sunday.
